Westfourstreet Nominated For Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards
What a great way to end the year. This week we were informed that we have been shortlisted for two MKBAA’s (Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards). OK, so technically we are in the final for at least one award and we are through to the final stage of judging for the Creativity & Design award.
Allow us to explain further. Let’s start with the nomination for Best Use of Social Media.
This year we have delved into the world of filmmaking. One video we created really went flying out of the traps and that was the video we created for Montana Adventures. Back in August we were invited out to the Spanish mountains to put together a short 3-4 minute video which could be used on social media. The primary ambition of the filming was to raise brand awareness through Facebook and Twitter for our client. After filming we discussed further the social media strategy and how we would release the short video.
It was decided that there was potential for the video to reach a huge audience without paying for any boosted posts so we just jumped straight in and released the video to the public via the Montana Adventures Facebook page. The results were beyond any of our expectations.
20,153 Facebook users were reached with 57 shares within first the four days. There were 5,500 views of the video within the first three days too and our client doubled their Facebook followers and ‘likes’ within four days of the video being published. Not only this but bookings for 2018 tripled overnight. With positive comments being received from Honda Montesa – whose bikes were featured in the video, it became clear that on social media the strength of content and the storytelling behind the visuals can cause a huge impact without the need to splash the cash.
So it’s with great delight that we have made the final of the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards for what technically is our first commercial video. This is quite a big deal to us. It’s a completely different creative outlet and to be honest we’re a little bit out of out comfort zone – but that was the point. It’s massively rewarding to pursue additional creative outlets.
In addition to this, we have made the second and final stage of voting for the award of Design & Creativity. We appreciate that self promotion can only stretch so far so we will keep this short.
We are continually pushed creatively. The last project we work on should always be our best. It should always be the benchmark. That way we can continue to improve and deliver something a little better each time. We pay attention to trends but we won’t always follow them. Surely it’s always better to strive towards being ahead of the curve rather than turning the corner with everyone else?
Hopefully we will see ourselves in contention for the Design & Creativity award along side our nomination for the Best Use of Social Media Award in March, 2018. But the table is booked, our guests invited and new shoes being looked at.
This will probably be our closing post for 2017. So, with that in mind we would like to thank all our clients for choosing westfourstreet as their web design agency in Milton Keynes, as well as all our friends and family who tell us we’re not crazy for designing a website as part of a proposal (yes – that really happened) and for supporting the business in so many different ways.
Next year we will explore further the opportunity to take on more work experience students from Milton Keynes College and possibly look towards possible apprenticeships. We took on one student (Tom) back in November and that proved to be a very positive experience. Tom had just turned 16 but he showed the exact kind of passion, motivation and work ethic which instantly clicked with us.
